wow – what a trip

I’ve spent a large chunk of my Sunday afternoon/evening going through my photos. The idea of creating a shortlist was daunting considering the 4000+ images I captured, so I decided nothing too arduous.  Just  a simple skim through, deleting test shots or where I had captured a blink…More fun has been flagging the ones I like…But most excitingly, highlighting the ones that made me catch my breath.  Those images that encapsulate why you are a photographer, a piece of beauty that is either what you had carefully planned or possibly an unforseen collaboration of model and circumstance.  The ones that just are “YES!”.

I am still in awe of all that occurred on our 10 day retreat, and excited/humbled/thrilled to have been a part of it.  I had actually forgotten entire chunks of shoots – there was just. so. many.

This afternoon has brought up a variety of feelings, but the overwhelming ones are pride and gratitude. I still can’t quite believe I did it, but I have proof in photographs and very real sensorial memories of wonderful people and conversations.  So many “firsts” for me – first proper underwater shoots (ended up doing lots), first art nude in landscapes, first duo shoot!  And more of things that I don’t feel I do well, but admire and am interested in like bodyscapes and abstracts.  This little portrait photographer is branching out!

At this point I would like to thank and commend all the models – I am so lucky to have worked with each of you. Your professionalism and humour blew me away every day. Our chats were thoroughly enjoyable, but so too was watching you switch between scenes and new concepts, helping me where necessary, bouncing ideas, and creating amazing art.  Thank you so very much.  I look forward to sharing images with you and the rest of those interested.

Thank you, too, to all the photographers who shared ideas and experiences and professional tips.  Plus let me see you create your art and helped me with my own.

To encompass everyone – THANK YOU for being awesome people and being part of my own very fun 10 days.  Chats, drinks, sightseeing, serious chats on the state of the world, thoughtful conversations and silly diversions.  Zoefest XVI ruled!  Let’s do it again.
