an experiment

Madelyn and I wandered all over the house for our shoot – in the back yard creating a “queen of tanglewood” vibe, playing on the indoor suspended silks, under direct sun (difficult!) on the deck, in the pool, shooting against doors, even an almost traditional portrait in front of my favourite gold/green backdrop (it looked amazing with her hair!).

Ergo, there were lots of different things to choose from our time together…I wasn’t going for a specific final product, so the shoot was much looser than many others. Last night I was drawn to the shots in front of the beautiful Balinese doors – lots of texture and warm wood contrasting against Madelyn’s milky white skin and long limbs.

I have tried a few times to do multiple poses in one shot, layering different poses together. Previously I have been less-than-happy with the results…probably because I don’t plan and I get frustrated with the colour toning. For whatever reason I let some of that perfectionism go with this image. I hope you like it, I do.
