16 Jan A massive leaf and Ella
One of the riches of making art in Far North Queensland is the lush tropical rainforest and all it’s abundance. The leaves are the largest I’ve seen anywhere. I managed to cut one that was low enough to reach for this group of images of Ella.
After working with this leaf of course we had to go get another one… it was lovely having all the props imaginable right on the property we were staying at.
I started a series of images with another model back in California and wanted to move it into the rainforest while I had the opportunity for utter privacy and ample locations to utilize. Just a simple concept, though due to the nature of the work it requires no possibility of being set upon by other people.
I particularly love this one because Ella and I did something similar with the sun in Mexico back in 2010 but in a completely different setting.
And finally… A show of Ella’s dance background with some insanely tall bamboo. Even with a 14mm lens there was no way to get the top of the bamboo in the frame without making Ella a little tiny dot.
